What is Back of the Budget?

“Back of the Budget” refers to the obscure budget language necessary to carry out operations (essentially the detailed implementation of a spending plan). However, it’s often ignored and overlooked -- like many interesting things in public finance.

This newsletter features select articles from around the country on select topics. It aims to bring to light unique aspects among the country’s different state and local governments, new commentary and analysis, and issues affecting public finance.
